Ways to support me

Friends!

Last Friday I got a text, then a voicemail from Matt Willis, the missions pastor from Calvary Baptist Church. Matt is leading a small team going to South Asia this fall. He said he’s buying the plane tickets now, “are we good to leave early morning September 29?”  Why yes, early morning works! I won’t sleep the night before a trip overseas anyway so might as well leave as early as possible!

Excited and a little nervous, I realize it is past time to let you in on where the Lord is leading me. God is doing something very special in South Asia right now. Even though the country is very hostile to Christianity in general, God is moving among their people. Almost 80% of its’ billion plus citizens are Hindu, and 14% of the people follow the Islamic faith. The Christian church faces great persecution there. Believers are threatened, isolated, and even killed for simply following and proclaiming Christ to their friends, family, and neighbors.

What is exciting is that despite the persecution these believers face, the church is growing quite rapidly where we are going. In fact, it is growing so rapidly, the South Asian church leaders need help in discipling the many new people coming to faith!  This is where our team comes in.  Our small group will split into two teams and go to two different cities to train the local South Asian believers in discipleship materials. It is a simple way we can support the growth of the South Asian church in a short term opportunity.

We will be relying upon the Masterlife Together curriculum that Matt Willis and his wife, Allison, co-wrote. Masterlife Together is a great course to teach the basic tenets of discipleship. I’ve been leading a small group through the material the past two months in preparation for teaching it in South Asia.  The material connects us to our relationship with God, ourselves, others, and the world. It invites Christ to heal those relationships by bringing the truth of the Bible and the love of Christ into each relationship. It gives practical tools to help deepen one’s walk with the Lord over the course of a lifetime.

There are a few ways I would like you to consider supporting me with this trip. First, I would love to be covered with your prayers. I would love to see the power of God at work through our group, and I know it must be fueled with prayer.  This is a way you can participate in what God is doing in South Asia. “Prayer is not intended to involve God in YOUR plans, but rather to involve YOU in God’s plans.” (Masterlife Together p.50) Please join me in entering Gods’ plans in South Asia.

Second, as with any venture, there is a cost. I am going with Calvary Baptist Church, and as a member I receive 25% off the cost of the trip.  I only need to raise $1,875, and I appreciate anything you are willing and able to give. If you would like to support me financially, please visit calvarynow.com/give and click online giving. At the top of the screen, click on Missions trips and locate the South Asia October trip, Campaign 167. Then find my name, Stacy Lane, #5237. Whatever you give will be credited to my account. Or you can write a check to Calvary Baptist Church and write my name & “trip #167” on the memo line. Mail to:

Thank you for your support in this endeavor.

Blessings in Christ,

                                                                         Stacy Lane

PS:  Please send an email with a word of encouragement for me and my team!  If I receive it before the trip I’ll be able to print and share it with them while we are over there! Also let me know how I can pray for you this season!
