What's the best gift you've ever gotten?

I just had a very simple and yet profound messenger chat with the young man I’m talking to. I really like him, but the problem is he lives in Rwanda. So FAR!  And, kinda suspicious, I know, there are many scammers out there. He was wary of me too, but we trust each other now. He took a video of his church service, we’ve video chatted several times, he looks like all the pictures he’s sent (FINE!) he had me talk to one of his friends from the US the other day to let me know he’s legit, and also he wants to introduce me to all his family and friends! I told him it’d be a while before I made it to Rwanda, like maybe next year over my birthday?  So, we’ll see by then what’s up. He really is handsome, I mean, I just look at his picture and think, wow.

That’s totally besides the point. He is sending me a gift already, he said I should get it next week! I was like, I have some ideas what I would like to give you, but I’m kinda waiting to see what he’s gotten me to know what he might actually like, but I will have to give him a UNC shirt!

Anyhow, I asked him, what’s the best gift you’ve ever gotten? And he said, The Bible. I was kinda convicted because I’m not sure I would answer that way. And he was just being honest, not pretentious or religious. I told him that is a life changing gift!  The secret is you have to read it for it to change your life. Then I told him many here in America have Bibles but never read them. He told me many in Rwanda have Bibles too, but that they actually do read them and love them.

I enjoy giving gifts to people, well, when I think of something great they would love. At Christmas I have  a hard time. But. I told Honore, have you heard of Voice of the Martyrs? They help Christians in persecuted countries. Well, I got to give a few Bibles to people in Iran, and one day I hope to see them in heaven, and they would say, thank you, and I would say, it was a privilege to give.

My heart breaks for so many people who have copies of the Bible and never read them. They are missing out on the greatest message of hope and love on the planet! The Gospel is right there, but so far at the same time. I told Honore to pray for the American church. We need a revival for sure.

And, I know people who read the Bible, but are still deceived with New Age crap!  I… we’ve lost the gift of discernment. Or they’re deceived by the prosperity gospel. I don’t know, Satan is having too much fun, we really need to frustrate his plans.

I think… maybe an even greater gift is, when you’re able to disciple the person you give the Bible to. When you walk with them and see them grow over time. That’s the gift of sharing your whole life with someone.

So… I was talking with a friend from work. She was telling me, she actually had gotten fired from her last job because she refused to get the COVID19SHOT. I was really proud of her. But she is trying to figure out her next move. And I started thinking, what about Honore? What was it like in Rwanda? So I texted him a lot and called and talked to him, and he was like, I knew not to trust the government, young people here, we know better. I was thinking, well, young people here are neurotic and bought the lie hook line and sinker. Anyhow, I totally was grateful God kept him from getting that shot, because if he had gotten it, I don’t think I would have dated him anymore. I’m a proud pureblood, and there’s complications I don’t want to mess with as far as that goes.
