Protecting your destiny

I’ve thought a lot about destiny lately. Trying to discern what is my destiny. Not wanting to lose out on my destiny. Not wanting my destiny stolen by the devil. To my reformed friend’s chagrin, I think you can lose your destiny. I’m not saying we can’t rest in God’s sovereignty, but there is a time where you have to fight for your destiny, you have to be willing to fight for your destiny, you have to protect your destiny from the devil’s wiles.

When Israel entered the promised land, when they entered Canaan, they had to fight and kill the residents of those cities who were doing detestable things before the Lord and worshipping idols. It’s true that, at Jericho, God made the walls fall down. But when the walls fell, the Israelites had to go up and take the city. So God did the miraculous, but He also empowered them for the battle as well, and they went in faith.

The generation before that one, however, was not willing to fight for their inheritance of the promised land. When Moses sent the twelve spies who came back, and 10 of them complained that they could never defeat the local giants… (if you look like a grasshopper to someone, they are a giant compared to you…) God got angry and promised that none of that generation would enter the promised land. Then Israel was like, we made a mistake, and they tried to take the land, and got their butts whooped. It was too late. God didn’t smite them, but they missed their inheritance, their destiny.

You know what John Bevere said in the Bait of Satan course I did?  Only you can mess up your destiny. It’s your sin, and your sin alone, that can keep you from experiencing all that God has for you. So, of course Satan is going to try to trap you in your sin to keep you from all that God has for you as well. Moses himself missed out on going into the promised land, because of his sin. He tried to blame it on the Israelites, because we are always trying to blame others for our sin, but, God still required him to bear the consequences of his sin. That’s a really sad one, because Moses was like, the prophet, and He had seen God do so many awesome things, and I’m sure he had faith that God would help Israel take the promised land. Jesus, the true and greater Moses, never failed in his mission on earth, and will surely bring us into the promised land. In the meantime here on earth, God wants us to experience the fullness of all He has for us, but so many settle for sin and the cares of the world.

I’m worried that spirit husband will keep me from experiencing where God wants to take me. I have to learn to crucify my flesh. It’s just really hard to stand when you’re super tired and want to lay down and go to sleep. Standing and praying for an hour, or even 15 minutes, even 5 minutes, can seem like too much to handle. But, I feel like, that’s what it took when I was on fire in 2021, I didn’t lay down for a minute when I felt things, I was up and praying and praising. I was also doing that around the clock. I miss calling into the prayer hotline, I wish it wasn’t so late, midnight is so late!

Anyhow, be on the lookout for Satan’s traps, his bait, that are there to enslave you. Don’t miss out on God’s destiny for your life!  And, if you feel sad about your past, thinking you already missed out on God’s best so much, let it go first of all. I regret all the time (years!)  I spent wallowing in bitterness and self pity, but I can’t move forward holding on to that baggage either. Then remember, God can restore what the locusts ate. God can redeem what was stolen over ten years in one hour, in one minute. Repent of your sin, and walk as closely as you can with the Holy Spirit, and He will lead you and convict you as you go about your life. If you have an intimate walk with Jesus, I think you’ll be just fine.
